Whether it’s counselling or psychotherapy, each session provides a safe and supportive space for you to talk about the challenges you are facing.
You are welcome to share as much or as little as you wish, and the session will move at your pace. During the first session, we will discuss GDPR, the contract and confidentiality, and we will be able to address any questions you might have.
-
Counselling and psychotherapy are somewhat different approaches to life’s difficulties. Counselling is a shorter-term process, addressing specific challenges or difficulties and seeks to find solutions and strategies to manage present issues.
Psychotherapy, on the other hand, tends to take a deeper, longer-term approach. It explores challenges and distress you are facing within the context of past experiences, leading to greater self-awareness and understanding.
-
Building a deeper understanding of yourself and creating meaningful lasting change can take time.
However, ideally if you can commit to an initial set of six sessions, this allows our relationship to develop and gives us a chance to reach an understanding as to what might be troubling you.
You can choose how long you wish to continue, and this can be openly discussed with me at any point during your sessions.
-
Confidentiality is crucial to the therapeutic process and as a psychotherapist, I abide by the professional Code of Ethics laid down by the IACP (Irish Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists). Confidentiality, and its boundaries, will be explained to you in detail during your first session..
-

-
